Example: For example, you may be writing the “Beginner’s Guide to Mom Fitness.” One of the top questions may be, “How do I find time to workout?” You can give a few quick tips in this guide, but later, when you write another post about “The 11 Ways to Make Time for Working Out as a Busy Mom” you can update your Beginner’s Guide and link to the “11 ways” post.

START: The beginner’s guide to Organization and time management

Did you know that 57% of women in the U.S. aged 16 and over work outside of the home? And that statistic doesn’t include working from home women. With all of the different moving parts of the family dynamic (and yes, if you are single, you are still a family!!!) in the work force, it takes a village to encourage, teach, learn and create the best life NOW! And putting certain systems in place for organization and time management are CRUCIAL to making it all happen!

I was once (and sometimes still am) in a time crunch. The three things I found years ago still hold true for today: 1) if you have another human in your home, then you are a TEAM. And a TEAM must work together to make the DREAM work. That picture perfect life doesn’t just happen if one person does it ALL! ( and even if it seems as if you do, there are often tiny chores done by others.) 2)Delegation is the name of the game. In delegating, you are not only removing something from the grasp of your responsibilities, you are also allowing someone to learn a new skill that will absolutely serve them well not only now but in their future life. They are learning personal responsibility. And 3), If you have it in your budget and you absolutely loathe doing it, hire it out! Even if you must hire a housekeeper to come in every other week to clean, and you are gainfully employed, I KNOW there are ways to carve it out of the budget to pay them. And it.will.be. worth.it.

What is time Management anyway?

  • Being able to use your time effectively and productively, especially at work. HOWEVER, we are talking about home and family, and this is WORK too!
  • To clear up any misconception, hear me loud and clear: YOU ARE NOT AN ISLAND OR SUPERWOMAN! I know you have many, many superpowers but you don’t need to conquer the world in a day!

How to get started with Time Management

  • Grab a notebook. Don’t make it fancy. Just a spiral from any store will do.
  • Write down every chore you do in a week. From making your bed, letting the dog out, folding clothes, taking Johnny to football and Susie to ballet, grocery shopping…you name it. WRITE IT DOWN!

Tips for Success in Time Management

  • In the notebook suggested above, write down your day, with starting time and ending time broken down into 15 minute increments.
  • Next, every chore you do or someone else does, time it. This will take some paying attention, but the payoff will be huge in the fact that you can see how long chores take to get completed. You will be amazed!
  • The Last Thing You Need to Know about Time Management and Organization

  • Give ANY system you implement into your life at the very LEAST 90-180 days (3-6 months.) Things need time to gel.
